11 corps members receive merit awards in Anambra

Eleven corps members of 2016 Batch “B” who served in Anambra State have received an award of merit for their commitment and selfless services in the state.
Governor Willie Obiano presented the award at the Government House Awka.
The award winners include, Thomas Effiong who gained the first position, Victor Oluchi, Second position, while Kehinde Oluwafunso came third.
Others include Obikara Timothy, Umoh Samuel, Mark Iniobong, Mamah Somkene, Okereke Ndubuisi, Ogudu Friday, Opayemi Opayemi and Obodoechi Vestina.
Governor Obiano, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Entrepreneurship and Creative Economy, Mr. Bonaventure Enemali, commended the winners for their commitment and dedication among over two thousand Corps members posted to the state, charging them to always strive for the best wherever they are.
In a remark, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Aremu Kehinde, thanked Governor Obiano for empowering the youths of Nigeria through instrumentality of the state government, stating that Anambra is one of the few states in Nigeria that augment the feeding of corps members posted to their states and implored Corps Members to take their NYSC programme very seriously.
On his part, Thomas Effiong, who spoke on behalf of the awardees appreciated the effort of Governor Obiano in bringing together corps members who have distinguished themselves and rewarded them accordingly, praying that God will continue to bless him.
Speaking to newsmen in an interview, one of the awardees, Mark Iniobong, advised students to always take their studies very seriously, to become useful members of the society.
