No fewer than 18 states are in Kano for this year’s on going Ramat cup finals.
The national organization secretary, Mallam Abdurazaq Usman said on Saturday that the competition which is in its 38th edition taking place at Mahaha sport complex and Pillars stadium has the teams split into four groups for the preliminaries.
Mr Usman said the competition which has Kwara State as the defending champions will see actions commencing on Sunday with the defending champions taking on Nasarawa State, Lagos will confront FCT, Oyo tackles Kebbi, Kano versus Rivers state, Kaduna will take its turn against Gombe just as Bauchi will slug it out against Sokoto while Osun state will take on Ekiti state in what looks like a brotherly battle.
Usman noted that despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the federation was happy to have this number of states in attendance, though he was optimistic that other states might join before the closing of the registration for the competition.In group A, Kano, Rivers, Zamfara and Ogun states would battle for the two tickets for the next round.In group B, defending champions Kwara will battle against Nasarawa, Kaduna and Gombe for next round ticket.In Group C, Lagos, FCT, Bauchi and Sokoto will battle for honour. In Group D, Oyo, Kebbi, Osun, Ekiti and Kastina will slug it out.
The competition which begins on Sunday will end on Friday with the football finals and relay race among the competing teams.
Meanwhile no fewer than 30 players were disqualified by YSFON officials for age cheating.
