A former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has been elected presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, (SDP) for the 2019 election.
He scored 812 votes followed by a former Minister of Information and National Orientation, Professor Jerry Gana with 612 votes.
Duke was declared winner of the poll held at the Old Parade Ground Abuja by the National Deputy Chairman of party and Returning Officer, Dr Ishaq Abdul.
A former Special Assistant to ex- Minister of Defence, General TY Danjuma, (rtd) Mr John Dara got 104 votes, Professor Iyorwuese Hagher, 72 and Ambassador Felix Osakwe, 0 votes. 1729 delegates participated in the election.
The election was witnessed by some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) led by Barrister Festus Okoye.
