2023: Jitters as General Angbaso joins Nasarawa governorship race

The immediate past General Officer Commanding, (GOC), 3rd Armoured Division, Jos, Nigerian Army, Major General Nuhu Ekpaji Angbazo has formally joined the race for Nasarawa State Governorship under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Angbazo who declared interest for the governorship position was on Monday presented with a PDP nomination form purchased for him by employees, associates and ex-beneficiaries of his gesture while in office.

About 100 volunteers spread around the thirteen local governments and Development Areas of the state had mobilize their personal resources to procured the nomination form for the retired Army officer.
General Angbazo, a member of the 36 Regular Course of the Nigeria Defence Academy, (NDA), holds a master’s degree in International Security and military strategy. He was the Nigeria military attachee to Mali and other countries before emerging as the GOC of the 3rd Armoured Division supervising five other military formations in Gombe, Adamawa, Bauchi, Nasarawa and Benue states.

Presenting the PDP nomination form on behalf of others, Miss Patience, a trainee nurse who is still on the scholarship of the retired General said they contributed half of the money while bulk came from friends and associates of the general.

Major General Angbazo is believe to be networking fast into the opposition PDP structure with the hope of emerging as the consensus candidate for the 2023 Governorship race.

With Sen. Ewuga’s withdrawal from the race, General Angbazo is working hard to wrestle the PDP ticket from four other aspirants including the 2019 flag bearer, Hon. Dr Dave Umbugadu, Sen. Solomon Adokwe and ex information minister, Labaran Maku.

Apex News Exclusive reports that recently , the national secretary APGA and former information Minister, Mr Labaran Maku, made a return to the PDP in Nasarawa State.
