2023 polls: Senator Nwagu joins Ebonyi governorship race

Senator Igwe Paulinus Nwagu has declared his interest to contest for the governorship position of Ebonyi State under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Senator Nwago was in the Senate between 2011 and 2015.

Presently, PDP has gotten not less than eight aspirants that would feature in the state gubernatorial primaries.

Senator Nwagu had represented Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constitiency in 2007-2011.

He rose in elective positions from 1990-1993 as councilor of Oriuzor ward and chairman, Ezza North LGA in 1999-2002.

Nwagu promised that his administration if voted into power would revamp the state-owned poultry in Nkaliki road in Abakiliki metropolis and the state Pipe Producing Company.

The mouribound Nkaliki poultry farm and the pipe company were established the regimes of Dr. Sam Egwu and Chief Martin Elechi as governors of the state respectively.

Nwagu who also pledged to build industries in the three existing senatorial zones in the state, noted that he motive is to create job to unemployed youths in the state.

He further assured that he would reform the civil service by paying salaries, pension, gratuities and promotion when due and resolve communal crisis ravaging the state.

His words: “l alone cannot achieve this without the help of Ebonyians and on this note, I appeal to the leaders, stakeholders and delegates of the PDP to nominate me to fly her flag as the gubernatorial candidate of PDP in Ebonyi come 2023.

“Under my leadership, the Ebonyi poultry in Nkaliki built by the previous administration is in comatose including the Ebonyi Pipe Producing Company, my administration will revamp and restructure them to provide jobs for our teeming unemployed youths.

“Also, under my first month in office as governor come 2023, I will resolve all the communal crisis ravaging the state both internal and external,” he said.
