There are strong indications that unless there is a sudden turn around due to political reasons, immediate past Speaker of the House of Reps, Barr Yakubu Dogara may be picked as the running mate of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Checks from among high ranking members of the APC indicated that Yakubu Dogara is leading others being considered for the number 2 political office in the country considering his rising political status in the Northern region of the country.
He is said to be enjoying a rising political status in the country and he is easily acceptable across the region particularly among the traditional institutions who hold him in high esteem.
A top notch of the party in Bauchi state who pleased anonymity said that Yakubu Dogara remains a good material for the APC particularly for the 2023 General elections because he is easily at home with Northern Christians who will give him an ear irrespective of political differences.
He stressed that, Yakubu Dogara has positively impacted on the life of many people irrespective of ethno-religious sentiments while he served as the number 4 citizen of the country for 4 years.
The politician is of the view that if eventually picked at the presidential running mate, he will added value to the campaign of the APC as he will be used to penetrate Northern Christians who are feeling politically marginalized.
Further findings in Bauchi state indicated that in spite of the political parties differences, most of the people of the state are rooting for his nomination as the running mate to Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Yakubu Dogara is one of frontline politicians who have been at the head of the campaign to have Bola Ahmed Tinubu picked the presidential ticket which has come to pass.
