One-time Deputy Senate Leader, Sen Abdul Ahmed Ningi has declared his presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 General elections is former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar just as he expressed his interest in aspiring for the seat of Bauchi Central senatorial zone in the 2023 general elections.
Abdul Ahmed Ningi who represented the zone at the Senate between 2011 and 2015 explained that his aspiration was drawn by the need to go back to the Senate in order to give the area an effective representation which it is lacking at the moment .
Abdul Ningi was speaking on Saturday at a Bauchi Central senatorial zone PDP stakeholders meeting held at the Command Guest House, Bauchi.
He told the stakeholders that, “I called this meeting so that I can tell you that for me, the PDP has no alternative, I am a member of the PDP forever. I am ready to do everything possible to keep the party alive no matter what”.
He also said that everything is set for the party to stand election come 2023 in order to consolidate the service to the people of Bauchi State stressing that not only people of Bauchi Central.
He added that, “for more than 2 years now, people have been calling on me to come out to aspire for a return to the Senate but I have been dodgy. I have stood elections 9 times out of which I have won 7”.
Seb Abdul Ningi said that he believes that the call on him to contest was informed by his good leadership qualities exhibition adding that the people enjoyed his tenure, that was the reason they want him back to the Senate in 2023.
He said that, “Now that my people have beckoned on me to once again represent them as a Senator, I am ready to serve. Nobody will say that PDP has not worked for the people of Bauchi State, they are only saying that money is not circulating”.
He further said that, “Governor of Bauchi State sent people to me for us to seat together and to come out to aspire for the Senatorial seat, and he will do the roads in my Constituency, Miya to Soro in Ganjuwa LGA, Bura to Ningi in Ningi LGA as well as other places which made me to agree”.
Abdul Ningi declared that, “I will be proud to see the next President of this country come from my geopolitical zone of the North-East in the 2023 General elections. In fact, my choice is former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar even though Governor Bala Muhammad has shown interest. I want the two of them to accept the outcome in good faith, whoever God gives the victory is a proud to me”.
The meeting was an indication that the aspiration of Sen Abdul Ahmed Ningi to return to the Senate come 2023 has got a boost as political stakeholders from the Bauchi Central Senatorial zone met to endorse him as the sole aspirant from the area under the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
The stakeholders after deliberations, came up with a resolution that it is only Abdul Ahmed Ningi they will support during the party primaries for the ticket to contest the Bauchi Central Senatorial seat in the general elections.
Speaking at the meeting, Bauchi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dayyabu Chiroma, commended Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Muhammad for ensuring that the PDP led administration returned the state to its path of glory after 4 years of APC maladministration before 2019.
Dayyabu Chiroma agreed that wining election is not an easy thing without unity of purpose among the stakeholders, he therefore stressed that all hands must be on deck for the PDP to win all the elections in 2023.
The Commissioner therefore charged leadership of the PDP to stand up and face the challenges ahead of the general elections with determination and courage to sell its candidates to the people of the state.
Another stakeholder, Bappah Aliyu Misau said that Sen Abdul Ahmed Ningi is a man loved by the people having represented them very well as a member of the House of Reps and later Senator.
He added that Abdul Ahmad Ningi has provided purposeful leadership by ensuring that his constituents got dividends of democracy even when he is not holding any political office unlike others who will run away from the people.
According to him, “I have the intention to aspire for the Senatorial seat under the PDP, in fact, I have made serious consultations but as soon as I got news that Abdul Ahmed Ningi is also aspiring, I withdrew my aspiration. We will work together to ensure that we won the general election in 2023”.
Also speaking, the member of Bauchi State House of Assembly representing Misau constituency, Bakoji Bobo commended the leadership qualities of Abdul Ahmed Ningi to the people of the area and Bauchi State in general saying that he deserves to be honored.
Bakoji Bobbo said that, “Abdul Ningi is not only just a Senator but a political leader of the North in the PDP. He has done a great thing for the people just to make sure that he protected the dignity of the PDP”.
He then called on PDP members in the state to ensure that they did the needful in order to win the confidence of the electorate and emerge victorious in the general elections come 2023.
The State PDP Women Leader, Hajiya Zainab A D Rufa’i expressed her support for the Ahmed Ningi project 2023 saying that he is the most qualified aspirant for the seat from the Central Zone.
She said that, “Abdul Ningi will get the required support from the women in the zone considering the good things of development he has done in the past. We have tested him in the past and he passed our test. He is a seasoned politician and we have confidence that he will do better if elected as Senator representing Bauchi Central Zone come 2023”.
