The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Senator Victor Umeh has said that zoning remains a major challenge in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
He regretted that efforts to pool Nigeria out of the wood are being stoutly resisted by those who benefit from the status quo, but insisted that to achieve lasting peace, unity and sustainable development, zoning of presidency should be embraced to give Nigerians of all ethnic and religious affiliations sense of belonging.
Speaking at Law and Governance Summit 2022 organized by Law Students Association of Nigeria, at the Chukwuduemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam campus, Chief Umeh, who is aspiring for a return to the Senate where he represented Anambra Central District, called for social justice to address agitations in some parts of the Country.
Senator Umeh promised to continue championing equity and fairness for all Nigerians if elected again as a Senator.
Our correspondent reports that representatives of Law students from different Universities in the six geopolitical zones of the country are participating in the summit, which has “Nigeria democratic process and 2023 general elections” as topic.
