Provost of the college, Dr Muhammad Degereji

The Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola in Adamawa State will be honouring 11 personalities for their immense contributions to humanity and education as the institution celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The Provost of the college, Dr Muhammad Usman Degereji disclosed this during a press conference.
He said the celebration will include the 15th convocation ceremony, 50th anniversary celebration and the hosting of the Nigeria Colleges of Education Games Association (NICEGA).
The Provost said a number of posthumous awards will also be given to distinguished personalities for their meritorious services to the motherland.
The award recipients include late Ahmed Joda, late Ahmadu Ribadu, Professor Jubril Aminu, late Professor Gidado Tahir, Professor Samuel Aleideno and Professor Peter Lassa.
Other recipients are, late Musa Waziri, Madam Asia Mamman, Maikano Tafida late Alhaji Iya Abbas and Professor Kaletapwa Farauta.
Degereji disclosed that adequate modalities have been put in place to ensure the success of NICEGA games which will be attended by no fewer than 20 colleges of education around the federation taking place between November 1 and 9 2024.
He said the school sporting arena has been rejuvenated to ensure the success of the sporting event.
According to the Provost, thousands of students are expected to participate in the 15th combined convocation ceremony which will cover the period between 2011 and 2023 on Saturday.
Other activities slated include the launch of a book in honour of Professor Gidado Tahir, the pioneer provost of the college as well as display of the college archives to showcase its deep roots and history.
Degereji noted that about N162m is budgeted for the tripartite events and that the fund was majorly sourced from well-meaning donors and friends of the college.
The Provost allayed fears of any impending hitch as he said the college has ensured that the right infrastructure and enabling environment has been put in place to ensure the overall success of the games.
The Provost appealled to journalists for their support to partner with the institution for developmental strides.
