6 killed in Shiites, soldiers’ clash in Abuja

Six persons are feared dead and others injured following a clash between Shiites and military men in Zuba few kilometers from Abuja centre.
It was gathered that the Shiites were holding a protest which started from Suleja town in Niger State to commemorate the death of the Prophet Muhammad,’s grandson, Imam Hussain.
However, a source close to the procession told Apex News that event was rounding off near the Zuba fly-over connecting to Abuja, when some military men arrived, members of the Shiites started pelting stones on them.
The source explained that the soldiers fired tear gas in a bid to disperse them the Shiites were unrelenting. He said the soldiers started shooting.
Apex News gathered that the Shiites recovered three bodies from the scene and thereafter the police evacuated three others.
The Zuba Divisional Police Officer, CSP Fodio Sani confirmed the incident.
