The appointment letter of the Associate Professor, Zakariya Mohammed Nayawo was signed by the Registrar, University of Maiduguri.
The appointment of “Kempes”was hailed and commended by staff, students, and sports administrators in the the University and the country as whole.
The newly appointed acting Director of sports popularly known as “Mario Kempes” in sports circle has severally represented University of Maiduguri in NUGA and other competitions.
In his playing days, he captained the University students team as well as the University staff football club.
He was in 1982 invited to the National camp of the then National team Green Eagles of Nigeria.
The appointment of Zakariya Mohammed Nayawo “Kempes” was a right step in the right direction towards rejuvenation of the University’s sports as a whole.
