Taraba State Government through the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning has alleged that over N10 billion meant for constituency projects specifically in Southern Taraba has been diverted to personal properties or executed poorly and other have been given impress to look like a personal project.
In a press briefing, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Honourable Solomon Elisha observed that some projects which were instituted by the Federal Government are yet to be completed while others are “poorly executed, unspecified, abandoned or even non-existent.” One of which is the “Radio Station for the Federal University Wukari in, Taraba South Senatorial District, which has the Federal University of Wukari as the executing agency.
Though the Commissioner didn’t mention names of those that diverted the projects to their personal use in the press briefing, but investigation shows that there have been alligation that the equipments used by the Senator to start his FM station in the state called Shimo FM is meant for Federal University Wukari, as captured in the Federal Government Budget.
Other projects he listed are supply of sewing machines at Taraba Central Senatorial District for employment of women and youths pegged at N125,000,000.
Grants to assist youths/widows in Entrepreneurship to cushion the effect of Covid-19 in Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, Taraba State pegged at N50,000,000.
Construction of community town hall in Mararaba-Donga, Donga LGA Taraba South Senatorial District, Taraba State pegged at N100,000,000 naira and other projects, this said project investigation showed that it was commissioned and named after Senator Bwacha mother, making it look like his personal project.
Repairs of palace of Aku Uka and that of Gara of Donga the turn of N200,000,000 capture under Federal Polytechnic, Bali. Senator Bwacha has alleged before now that he has wanted to repair the palaces but Governor Darius Ishaku prevented his, give an impression on it been a person project.
He maintained that reports available to the Ministry from the federal government intervention prompted the press briefing. According to him, this was a way to promote transparency and accountability.
He urge the citizen to be mindful of people like this having ambitious to rule the state, insisting that they have fail in being a good representative of the people.
