Sudan University to run courses in Malikiya Health College, Bauchi, plans partnership to upgrade to institution

The Sudan International University Khartoum, has expressed interest in partnering with a privately owned Malikiya College of Health and Social Sciences Bauchi just as it assured that it will assist the College to upgrade its status to a University.
The expression was made by the President of the University, Professor Osman Saeed when he led officials of the University on a working visit to the College in Bauchi over the weekend in readiness for the partnership.
While speaking during the brief ceremony, Osman Saeed said that his University is known for academic excellence especially in the areas of medicine, engineering, economics and ICT at various levels.
The University President however observed that, Malikiya College of Health and Social Sciences, Bauchi has the capacity to be upgraded to a University status, hence the need for his University to support the College to get approval from the relevant stakeholders particularly, the National Universities Commission (NUC) for accreditation and upgrades.
According to him, “We are very pleased to be here, this our visit we are hoping it will be a start point for our collective vision of providing qualitative education to our younger generations through our partnership of offering some courses by our University in this College”.
He added that, “Our University has a long term experience in tertiary education and we have involved in many disciplines including medicine, economics and engineering among others” .
Osman Saeed stressed that, “We have a sound curriculum that is providing the needed manpower for international development and national orientation” .
In his response, the Proprietor of the Malikiya College of Health and Social Sciences Bauchi, Aminu Dan-maliki stated that, the desire to upgrade the College to University is part of efforts to contribute to educational development of the state and Nigeria in general, hoping that it will meet the population explosion currently being experience.
Aminu Dan-maliki further noted that, establishing the University will go along way towards complementing the efforts and desire of the federal government to ensure millions of school age children are not left out from acquiring university education.
According to him, “We are delighted to receive you sir, on your familiarization and return visit to our young college. It will be recalled that exactly a year ago, my humble self, the Chief Proprietor Malikiya College, was in Khartoum on a courtesy visit where I met with the Vice President, Dr. Saif Usman Saeed and Prof. Ishraga during which we had a preliminary discussion on the possibility of partnership between the two institutions”.
He added that, “On my return home, the Governing Council of Malikiya discussed on my visit and agreed to work with you towards establishing a full pledged University in Bauchi. Therefore, this important visit will determine the structure of the partnership on the agreeable ratio”.
Aminu Danmaliki added that, “Here in Malikiya College, our enrolment so far has been over a thousand students every session. With the current infrastructure the college have, we can kick-start the University with an enrolment of 1000 students into various courses, particularly Medical and Health”.
“The college has a plot of land that can take a full pledge university as required by the National Universities Commission (NUC). Our partnership will certainly add value to tertiary education in Nigeria by using modern technology, innovative ideas through research to produce graduate ready for industry, society and entrepreneurship”, he concluded.
