Abuja Chamber of Commerce meets Space Research and Development Agency on upcoming 2nd Space economy conference

In a bid for continuous collaboration and growth in the African Space Economy, the 2nd Deputy President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, led a distinguished seven-man delegation to the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) on Wednesday.
The primary objective of their visit was to kick-start preparations for the eagerly anticipated second edition of the African Space Economy Conference, a pivotal event aimed at propelling advancements in the region’s space industry.
Commending the resounding success of the inaugural conference, Dr. Hong who represented the President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, underscored the immense potential of the space economy business.
He encouraged active participation from both the private and public sectors, emphasizing its pivotal role in driving economic growth while expressing optimism for an even more impactful second edition, he called for expanded international involvement to further enrich the discourse.
Welcoming the ACCI delegation, Dr. Halilu Shaba, the Director General of NASRDA, expressed gratitude for the ongoing partnership, acknowledging the invaluable insights gained through their collaboration.
He called for a more robust event while also outlining plans to incorporate additional ecosystems, enriching the conference’s scope and relevance.
Mr. Osi Imomoh, Chairman of the African Space Economy Conference Steering Committee and ACCI Vice President of ICT proposed a transformative step towards institutionalizing the conference.
He suggested elevating the Committee into an independent entity, ensuring the seamless continuity and sustainability of the program also advocating for the formalization of the collaboration through the proper signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, thereby legalizing the agreement between ACCI and NASRDA.
The ACCI delegation, including the Director General, Mr. Agabaidu C. Jideani, Director of the Policy Advocacy Centre, Mr. Chidiebere Onwumere, and ACCI General Counsel, Hajiya Hauwa Kaka Usman, stands as a testament to the commitment and diversity of expertise dedicated to advancing the African Space Economy.
As the collaborative efforts between ACCI and NASRDA gain momentum, the envisioned second edition of the African Space Economy Conference holds the promise of being a pivotal catalyst in propelling the region towards unprecedented achievements in the realm of space exploration and economic prosperity.
