The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe has called on President Bola Tinubu to convene an urgent economic and security summit to address Nigeria’s economic challenges.
The paramount ruler made the call in Abuja Thursday night at the inauguration of Chief Emeka Obegbolu, SAN, as the 12th President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
According to him, such summit must be across board and non-partisan.
Igwe Achebe who said as a player in the private business sector, economic and insecurity crises in the country demand serious measures.
The Obi pointed out that the leadership of the ACCI is coming at the time Nigeria’s economy is in what he described as the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Igwe Achebe who was Father of the Day at the ceremony said, there is rapid inflation in Nigeria with prices of items going up and salary of workers buying less and less items.

In a goodwill message, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Benjamin Kalu urged the leadership of the Abuja Chamber to prioritize initiatives that would empower women and youth as they are key to economic development.
He spoke about the violence in the south-east of the country pointing out that the House of Representatives would be an ally in providing the spirit of entrepreneurship on the youth to engage them.
Besides, the deputy speaker urged the ACCI to always be a beacon of economic growth and bring the youth close to the chamber.
Chairman of the occasion Chief Okey Wali, SAN, said the new ACCI stands on the threshold of a new chapter and must be seen as a shining light in the business community.
He said Abuja chamber was able to achieve a lot because of the dedication of staff urging them to maintain the standard.
