Three governorship aspirants in Adamawa State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have cried out for fears that the primary election might be manipulated.
The aspirants are, Abdulrazak Namdas, Theman Wafari and Dr. Umar Mustapha.
They claimed some delegates’ names have been replaced or completely distorted to favour some candidates.
Speaking to newsmen in Yola on behalf of the other two contestants, Hon. Namdas said it had earlier been agreed at all stakeholders meeting that the congresses will be peaceful and without rancor.
The said five delegates were to come from each of the 226 wards in the state.
According to Namdas, they have heard it from good sources that some people are the move to produce delegates and or substituted delegates.
Namdas who is a serving member in the House of Representatives said they know their delegates and warned that it shall not be taken lightly.
His words, “If anybody leaves his village thinking he is a delegate will surely have a surprise moreso nobody is afraid of loosing even though some of us have done it before”.
Although, leader of the screening committee from the APC headquarters in Abuja, Dr. Aminu Ahmed in a meeting with stakeholders of the party has stressed the need for confidence and that no one will be allowed to manipulate or tamper with the lists of delegates.
Ahmed said, if there are suspicions they could use the first list.
He said they should be rest assured that the committee will not be manipulated hence all should expect a fair and peaceful screening.
At the APC secretariat there were frayed nerves when Namdas expressed concern over statements made by the state organizing secretary, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu about some contrary views that almost brought fisticufs.
