Adamawa Assembly, screens, approves commissioner nominees

Adamawa House of Assembly on Wednesday screened and confirmed two commissioner nominees whose names were sent to it by the Executive for screening and confirmation.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the nominees are: Usman Tukur from Fufore Local Government and Mohammed Iliyasu from Yola North Metropolitan council.
The new commissioners are to replace the two former ones: Umar Daware and Yayaji Mijinyawa, who resigned their appointment to follow former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Daware and Mijinyawa was Commissioner of Commerce and Commissioner of Land and Survey respectively.
The plenary, presided over by the Speaker Kabiru Mijinyawa also received a letter from the Executive, informing it of the expiration of the tenure of elected local government council chairmen in the state.
The letter noted that the tenure of 19 out of the 21 local government council chairmen in the state ended on Aug. 1 while that of the Lamurde and Michika councils will end on Aug. 7, 2018 and March 5, 2019 respectively. (NAN)
