Adamawa Police Commissioner goes tough on cattle rustling, kidnapping activities

Operatives of Adamawa Police Command attached to Gombi Division in collaboration with Crack Squad and members of hunters while on intensive surveillance patrol at Amtasa along Hong Local Government Area in other to secure safety and security of lives and property have arrested four suspected criminals.

In a statement signed by the command spokesman. SP Suleiman Nguroje in Yola, Adamawa state said evidences in their possession were two AK-47 riffles, 72 Cows, 346 sheep, 2 magazines fully loaded with 13 rounds of live ammunition.

The statement gave the names of the suspects as Dahiru Bashir, 22 years, resident of Kesure Village, Song Local Government, Tukur Salisu, 19 years, resident of Filindi Village, Song local Government Area, Muhammed Bello, 21 years, resident of Sigire Village, Song local Government Area and Babangida Ibrahim 18 years, a resident of Sigire, Song local Government Area were arrested while on their way to deliver the rustled cattles to their receivers before the intervention the security.

He said, the suspects during interrogation confessed partaking in some of the cattle rustling and kidnapping activities particularly from areas of Zumo/Maigero villages in Song local Government, part of Gombi, Maiha local government areas and Cameroon Republic.

The Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola talked tough on the border crimes and directed Commander of the Crack Squad, SP Dibal Hussein Tijjani and Divisional police officers(DPOs) around border axis to checkmate such criminal activities in their areas and apprehend them.

He further directed that the matter be discreetly investigated and called on members of the public especially those around the boarder areas to report men of suspicious character to police officers or via these emergency GSM numbers, 08089671313, 08107364974 and 08053872326.

Similarly, while matching words with actions, the Police boss directed Commander Crack Squad to immediately prosecute the suspects and anyone found committing similar offence.

While assuring of sustained effort to protecting lives and property, calls on members of the public especially those that lost their animals to report to Police headquarters with evidence and claim them.
