Alleged blasphemy: Bauchi Governor, Bala warns against disruption of peace

Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has warned that any attempt to disrupt  the existing peaceful coexistence across the State will not be tolerated.
The Governor was reacting to the recent incident that led to destruction of houses, shops and properties in Katanga headquarters of Warji Local Government Area while assessing the level of damages aftermath of the violent action.
Bala Mohammed who warned that religion is a sensitive issues that should not be taken for granted, called on religious and community leaders to properly guide their subjects on the need to exercise restraint on dangerous statement.
While  commending security agents for the quick response in restoring normalcy, the Governor said that government would not renege in taking speedy action towards protecting lives and properties of the citizens.
“I will not spare anyone found making attempts to cause trouble. My administration has a special regard for peace and religious tolerance and I will not fold up my arms to allow unpatriotic people to cause trouble in any part of the state.” he said.

Also addressing the community, the State Commissioner of Police, Umar Sanda said arrests have been made and investigation is ongoing with a view to fish out and brought perpetrators to book.
Umar Sanda therefore appealed for  calm and avoidance of taking law into the hands of citizens adding that security personnel will intensify operations to avoid further escalation of the incident.

Speaking earlier, Warji local government Chairman, Adamu Muhammad Danjumai commended the quick intervention of security operatives which help in restoring normalcy to the community. 
He said over the years, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has been supportive to Warji local government since the wake up of last year’s flood disaster that befell several communities in the area.
The incident is coming barely one week after a similar case was reported in sokoto which generated public attention.
