Speaking briefly after the event one of her sons, Chief David Edochie Onuora, described their mother as a virtuous woman, saying that most of the things he applied in his business that made him successful,he learned them from his mother.
Chief Onuora enumerated some of the virtues, he said, his mother possessed which she inculcated into his children to include: “discipline, patience, honesty, hard work” among others.
Chief Onuora who is a successful business tycoon enjoined young people to often take good advice from their parents as according him: “no parent would teach the children the wrong things” noting that it has been the yearning of every responsible parent for his/ her children to be the best in the society.
Chief Onuora further admonished those he termed internet “fraudsters to refrain from that and go into formal training either in business or skill acquisition”.
He explained that hardworking, patience and prudence are keys to success.
” You know, when you see these children who believe they can become successful through short -cut in life, well, I believe they don’t know the meaning of success. If you want to be successful in life, you must be patient. If you steal from people or government and use the money to build house anywhere, you are just a successful criminal because crime is crime no matter how or who is involved. I learnt a lot from my mother. She taught me not to pick something on the road”.
In the same vein, another of her son who was the former Executive Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Hon. Simon Onuora, described Chief Iyom Agnes Mgbaa Onuora (Ada Umuayala) as a great Counselor whom he said, counsels them to live a vice- free life to enable them go far in life .
” Mama is a great Counselor, she counsels us to avoid crisis or vices of any type, if we really want to go far in life. In fact, she believes that once you live a disciplined life, definitely you will make it. She doesn’t eat anyhow, she doesn’t talk anyhow, she doesn’t spend anyhow. She hates stealing with passion, and today her advice has paid off for us”, said Hon. Onuora who prayed to God Almighty to continue to give their mother good health.
Also speaking, one of her daughters, Mrs Angelina Onuora, described her mother, Chief Iyom Agnes Mgbaa ( Nne Okwukwe) as “a great teacher, committed and a genuine Christian who insisted that all her children must know how to read and write”.
She said they are elated that all her children are doing well anywhere they are because of what their mother instilled in them.
” My mother was not privileged to acquire formal education but she is a genius. I leaned a lot from her and I am passing same to my own children” she said .
A family friend of Onuoras, Chief Okafor Marcel Ezebuilo , who spoke in consonance with Iyom’s children described Iyom Mgbaa Nne Okwukwe as a woman with exceptional quality, charging other mothers to learn from Iyom Mgbaa.
