Anambra Deputy Gov asks judiciary to enforce checks, balances in governance

The Nigerian Judiciary has been charged to ensure adequate checks and balances in governance and other affairs in the society.
The Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke renewed the call when the new executive members of the Nigeria Bar Association, Anaocha Branch, paid him a courtesy call in his office, at the Government House, Awka.
Okeke said the judiciary has a key role to play in maintaining equilibrium in the society through enforcing checks and balances.
The Deputy Governor, while appreciating the efforts so far by the Judiciary, said they should do more to achieve the desired goals and pledged commitment of the Obiano administration towards creating a level playing field and conducive environment for the Judiciary to thrive.
He congratulated the new executives, and tasked them to practice in line with the stipulations of the constitution.
The President of the NBA, Anaocha Branch, Barrister Jideofor Okongwu, explained that the branch is the largest in the state with three Local government areas, namely Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia.
