Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the APC gubernatorial candidate in Anambra State, argued that Igbo people must invest in their own region to drive sustainable development.
In an Arise TV interview which was monitored by our correspondent from Awka, he stated that no Yoruba or Hausa individuals have significant investments in Igbo land, highlighting the need for Igbos to develop their own communities.
He acknowledged that some of his previously established factories in Anambra are no longer operational, attributing the closures to security challenges.
Chief Ukachukwu claimed that kidnappings and the subsequent ransom payments, impacting expatriate workers crucial to the factories’ operation, significantly hampered their functionality.
The specialized nature of these factories, he explained, made them reliant on foreign expertise, forcing him to increase salaries and benefits to retain them.
He expressed disappointment that despite his financial investment, security and other factors ultimately made his ventures unsustainable.
