Anambra lawmaker Aniuno, gives scholarship to 150 students in Onitsha

150 junior and senior secondary students in Onitsha South I Constituency will attend schools for the next one whole academics year on scholarship.
This is because the member representing Onitsha South I Constituency in the State House Assembly, Honourable Patrick Aniuno has offered them scholarship for the period.
The beneficiaries gathered at the Urban Girls’ Secondary School, Fegge, Onitsha, where they received the award certificate from the Law maker.
Speaking after presentation of scholarship certificates to the beneficiaries, Mr. Aniuno revealed that the project gulped eleven point five million naira.
He said the gesture was to assist parents reduce the burden of funding their children’s education and to support education development of youths in his constituency.
Mr. Aniuno expressed satisfaction that the scholarship scheme which has lasted for three years has enhanced academic pursuit of students in his constituency.
The Chairman on the occasion and Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Chief Nzemeka Olisah represented by member one ASUBEB, Dr. (Mrs.) Chinelo Okechukwu, stated that the Board will continue to key into good programmes of Mr. Aniuno that has direct bearing on the people of Onitsha South One Constituency.
He noted with delight that gone were the days when bright students from poor backgrounds could not go to school due to lack of funds as lovers of education like Mr. Aniuno, now fund such.
In her remarks, the Coordinator, Honourable Aniuno Education Foundation, Mrs. Ngozi Okonkwo, explained that the students who were offered scholarship by the Lawmaker were those that excelled in the examination conducted for one thousand, three hundred students that took part in holiday’s lessons sponsored by the same benefactor.
In an interview, some of the beneficiaries including ,Favour Okechukwu and Collins Obienu, thanked the Lawmaker for the gesture and promised to be serious in their academic pursuit.
