Training of Anambra State Vigilante, (AVG), Operatives for improved performance is to commence soon.
A resolution signed by the Chairman, Anambra State Vigilante Supervisory Committee, CP Ikechukwu Aduba (Rtd), at the end of stakeholders meeting of the AVG at Nnewi.
He stated that reshuffling of recognized AVG personnel that receives monthly stipend from the State government by various Traditional Rulers and President Generals should be approved by AVG Headquarters, Awka which is also applicable to any inauguration of security committee in any community.
The statement urged both Traditional Rulers and Presidents General in the one hundred and seventy nine communities of the State to pursue the part of peaceful resolution of conflicts in whatever manner within
their domain.
The AVG Chairman noted that traditional rulers remain the Chairmen of Town Supervisory Committees with the President Generals as Secretary.
It stated that all AVG operatives should always be in full uniform while on duty or during official occasion and frowned at operation of cells or detention facility of any type in the markets, communities
among others.
Chief Aduba stated that anybody arrested by AVG must be handed over to the police within a short period of time as major operations of AVG must be supervised and spearheaded by the police, it urged police to henceforth dismantle any illegal cell and bring the operators to book.
It commended the Nigeria Police for their untiring efforts and supervisory role so far under the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Abang and urged the public to be at alert and furnish AVG operatives with important information about any criminal activity within their vicinities.
