Anglican bishop abolished Church wedding before traditional marriage

The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor has abolished church wedding before traditional marriage in the diocese.
Bishop Ezeofor announced this at the Cathedral Church of Saint John Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government area of Anambra State during a thanksgiving service to mark the end of the first session of the fifth Synod of Aguata Diocese.
The Bishop who is the President of the Synod made the remarks while charging Christians to take active part in the Nation’s electoral processes.
He urged eligible voters to endeavour to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards in order to exercise their franchise during the 2019 general elections and subsequent ones in the country.
Earlier in a sermon, the guest preacher Venerable Israel Odita of the Diocese on the Niger who described conversion as necessary foundation for Christian life, called on Nigerians to get connected to God in order to reap His abundant blessings.
Also speaking at the Synod, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State says his administration will continue to place high premium on the welfare of the citizenry.
The Governor maintained that his government will continue to map out programmes and policies that will improve the living standards of the people.
The Governor who was represented by the Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, in Anambra South Senatorial District Chief Titus Anigbogu, called on the Church to sustain its prayer for those in authority and re-assured the commitment of his administration to sustaining its partnership with the Church for enhanced development of the State.
Contributing, the Episcopal Secretary of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion and Bishop of Okigwe South Diocese, Right Reverend David Onuoha who called for more synergy between the government and the Church in development, urged the federal government to sustain efforts in ending the menace of the Fulani herdsmen in the Country.
The President of Aguata Diocesan Women Ministry, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeofor read the second lesson of the synod service.
The Synod which has its theme as “Jesus Christ the Foundation and the Chief Corner Stone” attracted the Acting Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Izuchukwu Onu, traditional rulers, Knights and Ladies Auxiliary, Captains of Industry, among others.
