Another Anambra community leader crushed by hit and run

Another President-General of Ndiokolo Town Union in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Hygienus Aniche, was reportedly crushed to death by a hit and run driver in the state on Tuesday.
The deceased who based in Kaduna was said to be returning to his home town on a motorcycle when he was knocked down by the car.
Our correspondent gathered that the deceased was returning home in respect to the forthcoming community election slated for Easter Monday and is said to be contesting for his second term.
A resident of the area said he had approached a police checkpoint within the state capital where he was accosted by the officers who insisted he must identify himself.
“They were still delaying him when he saw a fellow PG driving past and he had to join him, abandoning the car with the officers.
“His colleague took him to Ekwulobia where he dropped him so he could join a motorcycle which he had earlier alerted to come and pick him.
He said it was not long he boarded the motorcycle that they were knocked down by hit and run driver, and was rushed to the hospital were he was confirmed dead.
When contented the Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Haruna Mohamed (SP) he confirmed the incident and the police is investigating matter.
