Ex-SGF Babachir
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been urged to sanction the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal over comments on the Governor of Adamawa State, Senator Jibrilla Bindow.
A chieftain of the party in the state, Dr Umar Duhu, made the call at a press briefing in Abuja.
He said the former SGF has disrespected the governor with comments that he will only support President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 leaving Bindow out.
Duhu explained that such comments can cause serious disaffection in the APC.
According to him, all members of the party must follow the norms of the party.
“If you want to contest for an election, go and test your popularity,” Duhu said stressing his support for governor Bindow’s second term bid.
He called on President Buhari to direct APC officials in Adamawa to suspend or expel Babachir from the party pointing out that his statement against Bindow was unbecoming.
Duhu said the comments “is tantamount to taking the name of the party to disrepute. So, he must as a matter of urgency be expelled from the party for saying he will only work for President Muhammadu Buhari and against his state governor.”
