As PDP convention ends, Atiku challenges Buhari in 2019 presidential elections

A former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will be President Muhammadu Buhari’s main challenger in next year’s presidential election having emerged winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in Port Harcourt Sunday.
Earlier on Saturday the All Progressives Congress (APC) affirmed President Buhari its candidate in a special convention at the Eagles Square, Abuja.
He got 1754 votes to beat eleven other aspirants in the elections held at the Adokie Ameasimaka Stadium.
In the polls, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal got 693 votes, Senate President Bukola Saraki, 317, former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankaso, 158, Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, 111, former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, 96, former Kaduna State governor, Ahmed Makarfi, 74, former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, 65, former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa, 48, former Senate President David Mark, 35, former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, 19, and Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed received 5 votes.
