Bauchi environmental prepares for May sanitation exercise, focuses on drainage clearing

Management of the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) has disclosed that it has prepared very well for the conduct of the May edition of the Monthly Sanitation Exercise considering that the rainy season is gradually setting in.
It is expected that the focus of the exercise will be on clearing of drainages and waterways in order to make them free so that water can flow freely to avoid flooding.
The disclosure was made known during a meeting between the Director General of the Agency Dr Ibrahim Kabir, Directors and Desk Officers of the Agency who are are saddled with the responsibility of strict compliance.
The meeting which was organized to discuss and provide feasible suggestions for the successful conduct of the exercise agreed with the adoption of the hybrid form of the exercise in order to make the system better.
The hybrid form is designed to assign to post all the uniform Voluntary organisations working with the Agency to mann all the 24 check points within and outside the metropolis, headed and supervised by a BASEPA senior staff.
The meeting also reviewed the activities of the enforcement unit of the Agency during the conduct of the exercise such as surveillance, conveyance of defaulters to avoid having difficulties and also approved the engagement of the Environmental Health Officers Association (EHOAN) and the Red Cross to be part of the exercise.
The Director General also used the occasion to introduce the newly posted Director, Admin and Human Resources to the Agency, Hajiya Rukayya Muhammad who resumed office last week and called on the Staff to work in harmony with each other for the overall success of the Agency as contained in a statement by Isyaka Laminu Badamasi, SA Media to DG BASEPA.
