Bauchi Governor pledges collaboration with UNICEF for improved healthcare to citizens

The Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed has re- confirmed his administration’s determination to improve on the healthcare of citizens especially women and children.
Governor Mohammed made the commitment during an award ceremony for “Fathers of Good Health,” held at Government House, Bauchi Tuesday.
He declared to support any initiative that would add value and strengthen the state’s healthcare system.
Governor Mohammad explained that the initiative started as a pilot project in Misau and Ningi local government areas, with 340 volunteers, and has since expanded to four other local government areas.
He assured that his administration will continue to expand the initiative to all the 20 local government areas in the state.
The Governor expressed confidence that this intervention will improve vaccine acceptance and encourage household decision-makers to mobilize other men in their communities to ensure all children receive vaccinations.
He commended the development partners, particularly UNICEF for their support in health and education sectors most especially in reproductive maternal and child health, and commended the volunteer fathers for their commitment to supporting the healthcare system and enhancing health outcomes.
The Chief of UNICEF Field Office in Bauchi, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique said the initiative is designed to engage men as volunteers to improve vaccine acceptance and promote healthy behaviors.
Rafique commended Governor Mohammed for his support of various health activities, particularly those benefiting children and women.
She said the “Fathers of Good Health” initiative launched in collaboration between the state Government and UNICEF is aimed at mobilizing men to promote immunization and healthy behaviors in their various communities.
