Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y. Suleiman has been inaugurated as ‘Child Nutrition Champion’ in Nigeria by the International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH) .
While inaugurating the Speaker, Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State among others in an inauguration ceremony organized via zoom, Thursday, the Executive Director of the organization, Mrs Moji Makanjuola said that the appointment is based on the recognition of his commitment and advocacy towards fighting child acute severe malnutrition (SAM) in Bauchi State.
She commended the Speaker for participating in the activities of the Society at all times and hoped that he will do more toward ensuring child nutrition in Nigeria.
In his response, the Speaker expressed his appreciation to ISMPH for the honour done to him which he said has motivated him to do more in fighting acute malnutrition among children in his Constituency, the State and the Country at large.
The Speaker who was represented by his Spokesperson Abdul Ahmad Burra said that in line with the declaration of state of emergency in health sector in Bauchi State, he has personally engaged twenty health workers to provide medical care to his constituents.
While congratulating other recipients, he urged them to partner in championing the goals of the Society especially in the area of child nutrition which means a lot to the future of Nigerian children.
While extolling the role of the media in promoting public health, he assured the Organization of the support of the Bauchi State House of Assembly toward achieving their goals.
