Bauchi urged to establish more psychiatric hospitals

Bauchi State Government has been urged to establish additional psychiatric centers in the state for benefit of the citizens.

The state Chairman, Association of Psychiatric Nurses, Comrade Lawal Musa Misau made the call at a ceremony marking this year’s World Mental Health Day.

According to him Victims of mental disorder faces stigma from the society hence the need for hands to be on deck for proper awareness.

In his address, the state Chairman National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Comrade Ibrahim Maikudi called on the psychiatric nurses to be up and doing in discharging their official duty.

Also speaking, District Head of Bauchi Town, Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba called for proper Awareness especially on the importance of psychiatric doctors and nurses to the society.

According to him, many people regards the profession to only those with mental disorder, while calling on people to be visiting psychiatric centers for guidance and counselling.
