Board of El-Kanemi Warriors FC, Maiduguri inaugurated

The recently appointed Board of Elkanemi Warriors football club of Maiduguri by Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum was Friday inaugurated in the office of the Commissioner of Sports, Hon. Sainna Buba.

Mandated by the Governor to inaugurate the new Board, the commissioner in his inaugural speech said the board will surprise everybody in its capability to deliver.

He charged the board to live up to expectation by working round the clock to achieve the goals of bringing back the lost glories of Elkanemi with a view to getting promotion into the apex league in Nigeria.
He advised the board not to interfere with technical selections, but warned that they must ensure good usage of home based players for them to develop into the main stream Nigeria Football.

He recounted that one of the best achievements of the ministry in the short period it handled the team is the payment of debts as well as obtaining for the first time in so many years the outright clearance of 8 players of the current squad.
The sports commissioner disclosed that proper liaison will be made with relevant bodies to form a committee that will to come up with a proposed bill that will give Elkanemi Warriors legal independence.
Responding to the commissioner’s speech, the Chairman Elkanemi Warriors, Alhaji Sheriff Bukar assured the commissioner that he will not disappoint him, the ministry staff and every stakeholder.

He reassured the gathering that he and his team will surprise all in the manner they will run Elkanemi Insha Allah.
The inauguration was attended by top politicians, directors of the sports ministry, friends and relative of the board members who took turns to snap historical photographs with the chairman and board members.
