China’s leader President, Xi Jinping has secured a historic third term and also reelected chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the Peoples Republic of China.
This was achieved at the third Plenary meeting of the first session of the 14th National People’s Congress at the Great Hall in Beijing on March 10, 2023.
Mr Xi, 69, was made General Secretary of the Communist Party and Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) during the party congress last October.
XI: A brief biography
Xi Jinping was born 15 June 1953 and has served as the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), and thus as the paramount leader of China, since 2012. Xi has also served as the president of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) since 2013.
He was Vice President of the People’s Republic of China from 2008 to 2013. From 1998 to 2002, Xi studied Marxist theory and ideological education in Tsinghua University, graduating with a doctorate in law and ideology in 2002. In 1999, he was promoted to the office of Vice Governor of Fujian, and became governor a year later. (Additional report from BBC & Wikipedia)
