Coach pleased with competition venue, commends HFN
Bala Mohammed, coach of Coast Shooters of Nigerian Army and participants in the ongoing 2018 Prudent Energy Handball Premiere League have commended the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) for good a competition venue.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the HFN event, which kicked off on Wednesday at the indoor and outdoor courts of Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba, will end Oct. 7.
Mohammed told NAN that the courts were standard and made the atmosphere friendly for the male and female teams to play their matches.
“The choice of this sports environment is very good because it is friendly, neat and the handball courts are standard, which is making play to go smoothly.
“Everywhere is lively and full of activities because of number of matches going on concurrently in the indoor and outdoor courts of this venue, 11 matches are played daily.
“The Sam Ocheho HFN led board is doing well, living up to expectations within the period of time they took office and its an effort worthy of commendation,” he said.
He said he was delighted to have his team participating in the league, adding that it created an enabling environment to assess players’ form and team’s growth in the sport.
The COAS Shooters coach whose team defeated Niger United 28-24 in the opening match, said he worked hard on his players after their performance at the first phase league held in Abuja in April.
“The return of the premiere league has restored our hope, our performance at the first phase exposed our technical lapses after we lost to this same Niger United.
“We went home after that loss and intensified our training for this final phase and with that mindset, my players exhibited their skills and the match ended in our favour,” he added.
