Fifty contractors are in dire situation after being owed over N50billion by Hon. Bashir Ibrahim Bello for unpaid contracts executed sometimes in February 2023.

Apex News Exclusive gathered that Hon. Bello “misrepresented” himself to contractors as consultant to the 23 local government councils in Kaduna State and operated in the name of ‘Formal Act Legacy Limited’.

Hon. Bello purportedly awarded various contracts to the unsuspecting contractors in all the 23 local governments to be executed within three weeks and payment to be made upon completion.

It was gathered that upon receipt of letters of awards, the contractors mobilized to site and signed the contract agreement presented by Hon. Bello and duly executed the various contracts within the time specified.

However, despite the execution of the projects, Hon. Bello failed to pay the agreed contract sum since completion of the contracts since June, 2023.

According to the contractors having failed to pay the sums, they were compiled to conduct a preliminary investigation that revealed that Hon. Bello might be a fraudster and an imposter who has defrauded several other contractors in the same manner.

Some of the companies submitted Advance Payment Guarantee (APG) over a year ago and nothing has been paid to them not to talk of those who have fully delivered 100% without payment.

Hon. Bello attempted to get into the House of Representatives of Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency of Bauchi State

It was further learnt that the contractors are pleading with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to use his good office to help them get Hon. Bello pay the amount based on a complaint before the Special Investigation Unit, (SIU).

They expressed dismay that despite the matter before the Special Investigation Unit, no pressure on Hon. Bello as he continued to walk around a free man.

The contractors fear that Hon. Bello might even flee the country if not monitored and appealing to the IGP to wade into the matter in order to get them paid.

Furthermore, the contractors are sending an SOS to the IGP to compel Hon. Bello to immediately pay them as many of them took bank loans and other financial instruments whose payments deadlines have elapsed.

They said many of them have sold personal properties to repay the loans, yet there are huge outstanding to clear.

Apex News Exclusive also learnt that Hon. Bello is still giving out “contracts” despite non payment of previous jobs giving the impression there is a bigger support behind what he is doing.

It was further gathered that Hon. Bello has contested and failed for the Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency of Bauchi State of the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress.
