Council aims to boost international trade with Cameroon with modern motor park

The Etung Local Government Area in central Cross River State is constructing a modern motor Park to accommodate larger numbers of arriving commercial vehicles from Cameroon and Nigeria.

As such, the Council has completed  the grading of Etung Central Motor Park at Effraya junction.

The aim is to boost economic activities between borderline communities and Republic of Cameroon.

Effraya, capital of the LGA is less than 20 minutes drive into Cameroon. 

The Park is a major commercial and connecting point for commercial motorists in that part of Nigeria and southwest Cameroon.

A stakeholder in Etung and chairman of Young Peoples Party, (YPP), Anthony Bissong Attah said the expansion and reconstruction of the Park is a major step to bolstering the local Council to economic prosperity. 

“This singular project is capable of launching a shift in the economy of the people of Etung. 

“Leveraging on the international boundaries and the accompanying transborder trade with Cameroon, Etung LGA is getting set for a major economic revival. 

“We are determined to commend the government when they are doing well as well as constructively criticize when they are not on the right track.”

Attah said Etung as a local government has all the potentials to develop. 

Chairman of the LGA, Henry Anom said his tenure is taking advantage of the high volume of trade and movements of both nationals through the Effeaya Park.

He said they are grading the land to enable all sorts of vehicles from both countries to play it, adding that it will meet international standard.
