COVID-19: Chair of Commissioners for health confirms distribution of vaccines

The national chairman of all commissioners for health in Nigeria, Dr Betta Edu has confirmed that federal government will distribute the COVID-19 vaccines to states in Nigeria today, 4 March, 2021.

In an interview with Apex News Exclusive, Edu said she could not give definite quantities that would be available to states even though she held a long meeting with the minister of health yesterday.

“By Thursday, federal government will begin distribution the vaccines to all the states, especially those that have confirmed storage facilities.”

Edu who is also the commissioner for health and head of COVID-19 rescue team in her state disclosed that in Cross River, the State government has built a new storage facility for the vaccines.

She said the new facility replaces the former which was completely vandalised during the endSARS protest late year.

She said the facility is fully equipped.

“I cannot confirm presently the quantity that would be given to Cross River. But I can confirm confidently that we have built and equipped a new storage facility in Calabar for the vaccines”, she said.
