Some suspected cultists have allegedly attacked members of a Vigilance Group at their duty post at Umuadobihi Village  Ihiala,  Ihiala Council Area Anambra
State.
The Commander of the Vigilance  Group, who did not want to be identified, said the alleged cultists, who attacked them during the
early hours Sunday took them unawares.
When alerted, the Ihiala Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Kachi Ugwu and his team went to the scene of the event and picked up some of the empty cartridges that were fired by the suspected cultists.
Meanwhile, before the attack that early morning,  a combined team of security agencies including Ihiala Police Division arrested some suspected cultists in the town, whose names were sent from state Police Headquarters.
The operation, which was led by the Ihiala DPO nabbed some of the listed suspects.
When some journalists visited the Ihiala Police Station, the DPO confirmed the attack on Umuadobihi Vigilance Group and the arrest of some of the listed suspects.
The DPO said a signal came from the Headquarters, with a list of the suspected cultists, who terrorised the town and the tip off helped him and his team to arrest the suspects.
The arrested suspects were later handed over to the Special Anti Cult Squad from Enugu-Ukwu, who took them  away for further
investigation.
The DPO also said that his team would always be after those that were at large, stressing that they would ensure that Ihiala would be crime-free.
