A microfinance Bank in Cross River State which was adjudged the winner of this year’s Africa Best Microfinance Bank in customer relationship management in 2021, has disclosed that their major asset is their increasing clientele in the state.

Last week, a panel of international banking experts composed by the continental group, The Africa Brands, adjudged First Royal Microfinance Bank Ltd, the only in South-South Nigeria and other African countries, winner of the award.

Chief executive officer of the bank, Dr Emmanuel Esezobor said they were completely surprised when they were informed and invited to receive the award in Lagos.

“We never expected to win such award yet we were not entirely taken aback. This is because we have invested lots of time, energy and other resources to retain and increase our customers. We pay greater attention to their demands and even go extra mile to make them comfortable. To those that default inn offsetting their indebtedness we do not use law enforcement agents to whip them to pay up but we have a motivated debt recovery team that persuade them and they do come back every day with good reports of About refunds. We hold our customers in high esteem.

“Also, we encourage those that meet the requirements as set out by the Central Bank of Nigeria to come and access our loans. within two days at most they have collected their credits. These are some of the many reasons they keep coming back to us, which reasons contribute to being adjudged the best customer friendly bank in Africa..”

Esezobor also disclosed that they are at the verge of attaining the status of a national microfinance Bank.

“We have met requirements to become a state microfinance Bank. We will soon spread our branches throughout the 18 LGAs of the state.

“Very soon, too, we are at the verge of raising the recapitalisation fund before April 2022 and will be looking at going national 30 years after being in business in the state.”
