Delta gets family court
The Chief Judge of Delta, Justice Marshal Umukoro, has inaugurated Family Court to handle child right violation issues and other family cases across the state.
Mr. Emmanuel Dolor-Zimi, the Acting Chief Registrar, State High Court, stated in a press release in Asaba.
According to the statement, the inauguration was in pursuant to the Child’s Right Law of Delta State 2008.
“The family court which will operate at both the High Court and Magistrates’ court levels and shall sit at the three senatorial districts of the State.
“Sitting of the family court shall be in high courts in Asaba, Warri, Agbor and Ugheli while at the Magistrate’s Court level, the family court shall sit at Asaba, Warri, and Ughelli magistrates, courts.
“Legal practitioners are directed to file their family suits and matters in the family court’s registries.
“Also the general public, child’s right activists, stakeholders in the implementation and enforcement of the Child’s Right Law to take note of the development,” the statement reads.
