Nigerians have been urged not to be despaired by the current situation in the country but to the hope of newness as God is working out a way out of the situation.
They are also urged to expect relocation from dislocation, regeneration from degeneration as well as raising up from the falling situation in every facet of existence.
The encouragement was given by the President of Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Rev Dr Israel adelani Akanji in his maiden sermon as new President of the Convention on Sunday at the Baptist International Conference Center (BICC), Mowe, Ibadan – Lagos Expressway, Ogun state.
Isreal Akanji who was leading the Convention in Session for the first time after his nomination in 2021, expressed optimism that Nigeria will come out of the present situation in not too long a time.
Taking his reading from Psalm 40:1-7, the NBC President said that, King David faced greater challenges than what Nigeria and Nigerians are facing now but with faith and hope in God, he was able to come out it even stronger and better.
Israel Akanji who cited himself as a living testimony of overcoming life’s challenges, said that the current situation in the country is not beyond God to redeem in just a moment stressing that, “all is needed is a genuine repentance, return to God and having faith in Him”.
He said that though Nigerians are disillusioned at the moment due to economic difficulties and insecurity across the country, the situation is redeemable through fervent prayers and recommitment to the things of God.
He called on Baptists across the country to raise their voices to God for divine intervention just as was done by faithful of the past stressing that God is still busy listening and answering the calls of those who diligently seek Him.
While leading a prayer session, he prayed for the restoration of the country, its leaders and other organs of administration praying to God to give them direction on acts of governance.
He also prayed for the positive growth and development of the Church to be able to stand in the gap for God to intervene in the present situation.
