Emir of Jama’a promotes interfaith harmony with joint Iftar, urges peace, development in Kaduna

In a remarkable display of unity and solidarity, the Emir of Jama’a in Kaduna State, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Isa Muhammad, hosted a breaking of fast (Iftar) in his palace at Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government headquarters where Muslims and Christians came together in fellowship.

The event underscored the importance of interfaith dialogue and cooperation in fostering peace and harmony in the region.

Welcoming the diverse attendees, Wazirin Jama’a, Alhaji Muhammad Aliyu Muhammad expressed joy at seeing Muslims and Christians sharing moments of camaraderie.

He emphasized the significance of such gatherings in promoting understanding and goodwill among different religious communities.

Representatives from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Rev. Ben Amos and Alhaji Garba Alhassan respectively, lauded the Emir as a peace champion.

They commended his efforts in fostering mutual respect and cooperation between Muslims and Christians, while also urging him to advocate for the swift completion of road construction projects in Kafanchan, citing safety concerns that have lingered for almost three years.

Mrs. Phoebe Sukai Yayi, Commissioner of the Kafanchan Municipal Authority, emphasized the pivotal role of peace in driving development.

She noted the relative peace in the southern part of the state compared to other areas and called upon all stakeholders to collaborate in identifying and rooting out criminal elements, including drug dealers.

She stressed the importance of community ownership in safeguarding government infrastructure and assets.

The Executive Chairman, Jema’a Local Government, Yunana Markus Barde, who was represented by the Council’s Vice Chairman, Mrs. Christy Usman Yori, who described the Emir as a lover of peace, said the event was impressive considering the diverse group that attended.

In his address, the Emir of Jama’a expressed gratitude to all who graced the occasion and reiterated the importance of peaceful coexistence for the progress and prosperity of Kaduna state.

The joint Iftar organized by the Emir of Jama’a serves as a testament to the power of dialogue and collaboration in building bridges between different religious communities.

As Kaduna state continues its journey towards peace and development, such initiatives are instrumental in fostering a culture of tolerance, understanding, and mutual respect.
