Era of age manipulation by civil servants in Taraba over – Chief Mamman, outgone chair, civil service commission

The outgone Chairman of Taraba State Civil Service Commission (TSCSC) Chief John Mamman has revealed that the era of age manipulation by civil servants in the State was over as he bows out of commission.
According to him, the newly installed applications such as website and database, staff portal and internet services already in the commission information management system have put to end any form of sharp practices associated with falsification by civil servants.
Chief Mamman who made the disclosure in his farewell speech in Jalingo, noted that over the last past years, the commission has saddled with the responsibility of recruitment of staff, appointment and promotion of staff from Grade Level 07 and above, monitoring the activities of ministry and extra ministerial department and maintaining comprehensive up-to-date personnel records for the civil servants among others.
He added that, during the period under review, the commission has equally carried out all required promotions, retirements, transfers of service, secondment, pooling, contract appointments, deployment and acting appointments in the state service.
Under his watch, he said the Commission promoted to 3,801, retired 1,636, acting appointment 67, merger of service 30 and transfer of service 320.
Others are general employment 1,844, deployment 10, contract appointment 144, secondment 62 as well as conversion and pooling 268 and 103 personnel respectively.
Chief Mamman while appreciated the State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas for enablement and support to carry out these noble tasks inherited from the immediate past administration to logical conclusion tenure of five years, reminded the Governor that the commission was yet to allocate slot for the recruitment of the junior cadre to fill the vacant positions as required by state civil service rule.
Apart from recommending a blueprint, Chief Mamman highlighted major constraints of the commission to include dearth of junior staff, inadequate office accommodation, insufficient furniture and functioning computers.
Others are complete lack of utility vehicles, irregular power supply and office machines.
He expressed gratitude to his team, top state government functionaries, labour organizations, management and staff of the commission for the support accorded him during the period and solicited the same to the incoming members of the commission.
In his remarks, the newly posted Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Malam Kabir Waziri thanked the outgoing Chairman and his team for effectively managing the government engine hub in the past five years and promised to tap from the legacies already established.
