Escaped of Hon. Azuka’s killers: Onitsha youth faults Anambra new Police Commissioner’s claim that escapees not principal suspects
The Onitsha Ado Youth Forum (OAYF) has faulted the new State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ikioye Orutugu’s claim that the two escaped suspects were not the principal suspects in the kidnap and murder of Hon. Justice Azuka.
The group in a reaction to news carried by journalists after a briefing by the Commissioner in Awka Friday that the suspects who escaped from Police were not principal suspects told Anambra people to ignore the new CP’s assertion.
In the statement signed by their president, Mr. Ginika Odua, the group said part of OAYF members were in the team of the security operatives who arrested the gang leader Kelvin Ikechukwu Osssi aka Ikem, who took them to the scene where “they murdered our brother” late Hon Azuka.
If the escaping suspect, Kelvin Ikechukwu Osssi, was not the leading gang member how did he take the team to the location wherec Azuka’s dead body was found?
The youth group also queried how he would have known the buyer of every vehicle snatched from innocent citizens under gunpoint?
The Ado Youth which tasked the new CP to provide answers to these questions lamented that this kind of misinformation was aimed at deceiving and confusing the entire Anambra people and beyond.
The group insisted that the two escaping suspects:Kevin Ikechukwu Ossai and Chinedu Okoli aka OCHA were the two notorious kidnappers who :”killed our son and dumped his lifeless body at Second Niger Bridge, Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of the State” after they had kidnapped him on 24th December 2024, along Ugwunabankpa Road, Onitsha, while he was celebrating Christmas for some of his relatives.
“The CP should apologise to Ndi Anambra and restrain himself from making provocative statement, even when his command was yet to arrest the fleeing suspects and bring them to Justice” said Ado Youth.

Continuing they said: “We also demand that the new CP should embark on total overhaul of the entire Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Awkuzu , Oyi Local Government Area of the State. Some officers have become lord of their own, infested with corruption, extortion and incompetence”.
The CP, they demanded , should further overhaul the entire Anambra Police Command and remove any officer who has spent five years in a particular place as this will help check their excesses and bring these corrupt officers under control.
