Former Nigerian leader, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) was in Gombe to commiserate with his former Chief Security Officer, Major General Abdulrasheed Aliyu (rtd), over the loss of his father, Alhaji Muhammadu Aliyu.
He extended his condolences to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III over the demise of the elder statesman.
This was contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe.
During his visit to the Emir at his Palace, Abdulsalami lauded the harmonious coexistence in Gombe and praised the developmental strides under the stewardship of Governor Yahaya.
At the Presidential Lodge, Governor Yahaya presented a plaque as a token of gratitude for Abdulsalami’s visit.
The Governor was in company of his Deputy, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, SSG, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, Chief of Staff, Government House, Abubakar Inuwa Kari, Commissioners and other top government functionaries.
