Excited Christian pilgrims begin visit to Holy Sites in Jordan

The ninth batch of Christian pilgrims to Holy Land began their spiritual exercise Friday morning after Amman, Jordan Thursday morning and taking the whole day rest.

The day started with a Holy Mass for Catholic faithful by 5:25am with Rev Father Joseph Gandu as Chief celebrant assisted by Fr. Maurice Hassan at the Grand Palace Hotel, Amman.

Thereafter, the general morning devotion took place with Rev Father Gandu given the opportunity for the spiritual reflections.

Though the weather was cold, the pilgrims were excited to start the spiritual journey.

The pilgrims who were grouped in three buses, then left the hotel around 8:16am for Machaerus, where is believed John The Baptist was imprisoned and later beheaded by King Herod Antipas.

The tour guide, Mazen Kfouf, took the pilgrims in bus seven through some rich history of Jordan and the biblical importance of the country in Christiandom.
