Parents, let’s face the truth. The failure to provide proper guidance, support, and care for our children is having a devastating impact on our society. And let’s be real, it’s leading to:
Increased crime rates: Our unsupervised and unchecked children are more likely to engage in criminal activities, contributing to the rising crime rates in our communities.
- Mental health concerns: The emotional scars of our neglect or abuse can lead to mental health issues like depression and anxiety, which have a profound impact on our children and society as a whole.
Decreased social cohesion: Our failures can lead to a breakdown in family structures, resulting in a decline in social cohesion and community values.
- Economic burden: The consequences of our failures can lead to increased financial burdens on the state, as resources are diverted to address the resulting social issues.
- A generation of dysfunctional adults: Our children who suffer from our failures are more likely to struggle with relationships, employment, and overall well-being in adulthood.
We owe it to our children to do better. We can build a better and peaceful Nigeria, where our children can thrive and reach their full potential. Let’s step up and be the parents our children need us to be!
