FCT Police arrest over 60 suspects for armed robbery

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said it had arrested over 60 suspects for armed robbery.
The suspects are: Rabiu Usman, 20, Bala Abba, 22, Aminu Mohammed, 24, Bilyaminu Abubakar , 21, Nuhu Ahmed, 22, Aminu Musa,20, Sani Wanzam, 30, Abdulsalam Isyaku, 20,Magaji Amadu,33, Aminu Danjuma,27, and Emmanuel David, 24 among others.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department in the command, Salisu Gyadi-Gyadi, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.
He said that items recovered from the suspects include: 43 bottles of codeine, 12 knives, two cutlasses, 14 sticks, various charms, three harmers, 16 cell phones, nine rounds of AK 47 live ammunition and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
He said that the arrest followed intelligence-led policing and discreet investigation adopted by the command.
“I wish to inform you that the proactive measures put in place by the command to combat crime in FCT are yielding positive results.
“The command is also proud to attribute some of the successes to information received from spirited members of the public,“he said.
The commissioner said that efforts were being made to arrest some of the suspects who are at large.
He said that all the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation
Gyadi-Gyadi said the command had keyed into the “Operation Puff Adder” launched by the acting Inspector-General of Police.
He said that the command had deployed additional personnel to Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Bwari and Kuje local government areas to check activities of criminals within the territory.(NAN)
