The Managing Director of Federal Housing Authority, Mr Oyetunde Ojo, has informed Governor Nasir Idris in Birnin Kebbi that his organization under President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda would construct five hundred affordable houses for the people in the state.
He said he was in Birnin Kebbi to solicit for land, support, robust synergy and corporate partnership with the state government to achieve the common goal of providing affordable housing to the people of the state.
He commended the Governor’s developmental strides in the State, adding that “when I visited Kebbi some years back, the streets were in darkness but now I can see new roads and street lights everywhere in the state capital.”
In his response, Governor Idris said his administration would earnestly provide support especially by ensuring that all the needed documents for the planned housing estate were made available at the most earliest time by the State Ministry of Land and Housing.
He said, “I am the most happiest person today as I attach topmost importance to the provision of affordable housing to the cross section of people, workers and non workers alike. During my unionism days, we clamoured for govenrment to construct houses for workers.
“That was how the Adamu Aliero housing estate, Birnin Kebbi was established and the houses were distributed to workers at owner-occupier basis, including federal workers in spite the fact that it was a state government project,” he revealed.
To facilitate the commencement of the project, the Governor pledged to pay compensation to the land owners for the construction of the 500 pilot housing units by the Federal Housing Authority in Birnin Kebbi.
